How Can I Help?

WHAT BRINGS MOTHERS TO SEE ME

  • PLANNING TO BREASTFEED

    I support mothers who may have had a previous breastfeeding journey that didn’t go well and want to try for a different experience this time around or who perhaps know that they are expecting a baby with some additional needs and want to make a breastfeeding plan.

  • BREASTFEEDING EDUCATION

    Not all couples are able or want to participate in a traditional breastfeeding class at your local hospital. If you would like something more tailored to you, at a time which suits you, I can customise a breastfeeding class just for you.

  • POSITIONING AND ATTACHMENT

    These are the key to a successful breastfeeding relationship between mother and baby and is not always easy or straightforward. Breastfeeding is a learned skill and when positioning and attachment aren’t going well it can lead to: Nipple Damage and pain, infections, slow/ low weight gain in baby, supply issues, breastfeeding aversions and much more.

  • MEDICAL CONDITIONS which effect breastfeeding, including (but not limited to);

    1. PCOS and other hormonal issues

    2. Breast Hypoplasia

    3. Insuffficient glandular tissue

    4. Raynauds/vasospasm

    5. Flat/inverted nipples

    6. Previous breast surgery

    7. Tongue ties and Palate issues

    8. Developmental, cognitive or muscle tone challenges with both baby and/or mum. e.g. Down syndrome, ASD etc

    9. Allergies and Intolerances

    10. Chronic mastitis infections (including those with a history of abscess)

Every person who breastfeeds a baby is unique and brings their unique life experience to their parenting and feeding Journey. I am a strong ally to the LGBTIQ+ community and would be honoured to support any/all parents in breast/chest feeding their babies. No matter how you identify, you will find all GPs I work with and my clinic to be an inclusive, welcoming space where you will be supported.
